The Director’s Choice – Steven Spielberg
The cultof the film director is an increasing phenomenon, but the music they use in their films is largely overlooked, even though there is a large group of consumers for this kind of product.
The Director is responsible for deciding who to use to write the original score and also decides what original recordings to use when and if he decides to go down that path. Often it is a mix of the two. On this initial series of 3 six page digipak’s, which also include a 12 page booklet out-lining the directors career, we are giving an over view of the music the Director’s have been inspired to use or have created for their masterpieces.
Both Spielberg and Scorcese have been prolific in the number of films they have directed giving us more than enough material for a double CD. Parker seems a to have been a little less productive, but in fact four of his major movies were music orientated, namely ‘Bugsy’, ‘Don’t Cry for me Argentina’,
‘The Commitments’ and “Pink Floyd – The Wall”. Obviously it would be difficult to take any of these works out of context and as such we decided that a single CD would cover all the other major films he directed.
